Jensen Huang: Huawei's AI Chip Performance Impressive, Nearing NVIDIA H200

Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, recently remarked that U.S. export restrictions on AI chips to China have not only cost NVIDIA a significant Chinese market but also accelerated China's self-research and development of AI chips. He emphasized that Huawei's latest generation of AI chips exhibits remarkable performance, approaching the level of NVIDIA's H200.
In an interview with foreign media, Huang stated that the U.S. AI chip ban has ironically fueled China's determination to develop its own AI chips to fill market gaps. He particularly noted that the performance of Huawei's next-generation AI chips is extraordinarily strong, nearly comparable to NVIDIA's H200 chips, indicating China's formidable R&D capabilities in the AI chip sector. This ban not only affects technological progress between China and the U.S. but also directly impacts NVIDIA's operations. The demand for NVIDIA's AI chips in the Chinese market has always been immense, and the implementation of the ban has forced NVIDIA to recognize losses in the billions of dollars.
Huang further warned that if the U.S. continues to impose export controls on China, it could ultimately result in America losing its market leadership position in the AI sector. Notably, his remarks underscore the fierce competitive landscape in the global AI chip market and potential counterproductive effects of U.S. technology restrictions.
