TSMC Plans to Build Mega Wafer Factory in UAE, Discussions Began During Trump Administration

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) is reportedly planning to construct a mega wafer factory in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), comprised of six factories. This initiative's discussions reportedly began during former U.S. President Donald Trump's administration.
According to Bloomberg, TSMC has engaged in multiple discussions with key advisers to Trump and U.S. Middle East envoys, with talks commencing during President Biden's administration as well.
The timeline for constructing the new factory has not yet been confirmed. Currently, TSMC is focusing on its existing expansion plans in Arizona and Kumamoto, with the Arizona facility expected to start production using 4nm technology in Q4 2024.
Market observers are keenly interested in whether this plan will receive support from the U.S. government, and TSMC has stated it will not comment on market speculation, emphasizing its commitment to current overseas expansion strategies.
