Taiwan Dollar Surge Raises Economic Concerns, Tsai Cheng-yuan Criticizes Yang Jin-long's Competence
The dramatic rise of the Taiwan dollar has placed the financial market in peril. Former legislator Tsai Cheng-yuan questions the competence of Central Bank Governor Yang Jin-long in handling the situation. Tsai points out that the Hong Kong Monetary Authority was able to immediately employ HKD 60.5 billion to stabilize currency markets, highlighting a stark contrast with Taiwan's perceived inaction.
In a recent show, Tsai stated that Yang Jin-long seems more of a novice than an expert and accused him of trying to divert attention from the central issue without providing real solutions. He emphasized that stabilizing the currency is a key responsibility of the central bank, warning that ineffective measures could lead to rampant inflation and severe disruptions in the economy.
